California Governor Gavin Newsom used his press office’s social media account on Monday to mock White House adviser Stephen Miller . He further suggested that Miller is the hidden hand shaping Trump’s policies and public messaging.
The Labour Day post included an image depicting Miller as Voldemort, a villain from the Harry Potter series, continuing a style Newsom has adopted in recent months to lampoon Trump and his allies. Last month, he posted a similarly mocking birthday message aimed at Trump.
Newsom also uses used his press office account to satirise US president Donald Trump’s bombastic social media style, complete with altered images and all-caps messages, sometimes mirroring Trump’s posts almost word-for-word.
Speaking at a news conference last week, Newsom explained, “We’re putting a mirror up to the lunacy that is Trump’s tweets, and his grift, the madness that is someone that would dress up as the pope and tweet that out or put his face up there on Mount Rushmore, or in a Superman costume. So I do think it’s important to put that mirror, that lens, back and have everyone reflect on it and say, ‘Have we accepted this as normal?’ Why aren’t we calling this out more clearly?”
