The two vice-presidential nominees are set to meet on the debate stage on Tuesday night in New York City .

Democratic Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota and Republican Senator JD Vance of Ohio will take to the stage nearly a month after the presidential nominees, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump , held a debate in Philadelphia.

This debate arrives in the final phase of a closely contested presidential race, which will be decided in just over a month.

Both vice-presidential candidates agreed to the 1st October debate after CBS News proposed four potential dates (17th September, 24th September, 1st October, and 8th October).

"See you on 1st October, JD," Walz posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, on 14th August.

Vance accepted the 1st October debate the following day and also suggested a debate for 18th September on CNN. Michael Tyler, the communications director for Harris's campaign, informed CBS News later that day that Walz would only participate in the 1st October debate.

Here's what is known about the 1st October debate between Walz and Vance, including details on how to watch and who will be moderating.
