In a seemingly unguarded moment during her interview with Oprah Winfrey , Kamala Harris once again confirmed that she is a gun owner. The Democratic candidate joked that if anyone were to break into her house, they would get shot, before quickly backtracking and saying she probably should not have said that, adding that her "staff will deal with that later."

This isn’t the first time Harris has highlighted her gun ownership . During her debate only debate with Donald Trump, she similarly mentioned, “This business about taking everyone's guns away — Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff.” Harris, who owns a handgun for personal safety, aims to bridge the divide between supporting stricter gun regulations and appealing to gun owners.

Her remarks come at a pivotal time, as gun control forms a key issue during election season. Harris has consistently advocated for measures like universal background checks and bans on assault weapons, while also addressing concerns from those who own firearms. By sharing her personal experience as a gun owner, she seeks to connect with a significant portion of the electorate.

At the "Unite for America" rally in Michigan, hosted by Winfrey, Harris urged attendees to unite against the divisive forces represented by Trump. Hollywood stars including Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep showed their support through virtual appearances, drawing hundreds of thousands of viewers.

In addition to gun safety, Harris touched on major campaign issues such as abortion rights and immigration, all while responding to questions from Winfrey.
