NEW DELHI: Chaos erupted in Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Friday after opposition MLAs were marshalled out the house for entering the well and raising slogans over the resolution for the restoration of the erstwhile state's special status.

This comes a day after a heated confrontation between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators and assembly marshals disrupted the session on Thursday, forcing Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather to adjourn proceedings for the day.
The incident occurred following the Speaker's order to evict opposition members who had entered the well of the House during a protest related to a resolution on special status for the region.
The speaker’s decision to remove the protesting members led to a physical altercation, with at least three BJP MLAs being forcibly removed by marshals.
The BJP members' protest stemmed from a resolution passed on Wednesday. The resolution, brought forward by JK deputy chief minister Surinder Choudhary, stated:
“That this legislative assembly reaffirms the importance of the special status and constitutional guarantees, which safeguarded the identity, culture and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and expresses concern over their unilateral removal.”
As the House convened Thursday morning, BJP members voiced their opposition to the resolution, leading to a chaotic scene where BJP MLAs and other opposition members clashed in the well of the assembly.
During the altercation, Speaker Rather attempted to restore order. He was recorded stating, "They deserve it, throw them out."
Following the eviction of the BJP MLAs, Minister Satish Sharma accused the BJP of employing "divide and rule" tactics, emphasizing that "Bharat mata" belonged to everyone.
The Assembly session on Wednesday had also witnessed similar disruptions following the passage of the resolution, prompting an early adjournment.
