NEW DELHI: Congress on Saturday reiterated its concerns regarding credibility of Electronic Voting Machines ( EVMs ) used in Haryana polls . Pointing out a "strange coincidence," Pawan Khera said that a list of 20 constituencies had been submitted to the Election Commission where the EVMs showed full charge during counting.
"We have sent a list of 20 seats to the Election Commission regarding which our candidates have submitted written and verbal complaints of 99% battery charge . This issue was raised on the day of counting," Khera said.
"This is a strange coincidence that the machines which displayed 99 per cent battery charge were the ones on which Congress was mostly made to lose. The machines with 60-70 per cent battery charge are the ones on which Congress won. Why did this happen?" he added.
In a memorandum submitted to the ECI, Congress highlighted issues faced by many of its candidates, particularly concerning the electronic voting machines (EVMs) used for counting and their battery capacity.
"In this representation, we have collated the additional 13 complaints/issues raised in Assembly Constituency of Haryana and enclosed all the 20 complaints. The list of the 20 complaints from difference Assembly Constituencies is - Narnaul, Karnal, Dabwali, Rewari, Hodal, Kalka, Panipat City, Indri, Badkhal, Faridabad NIT, Nalwa, Rania, Pataudi (SC), Palwal, Ballabhgarh, Barwala, Uchana Kalan, Gharaunda, Kosli, and Badshahpur," the memorandum said.
A delegation of Congress leaders, including KC Venugopal, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Ashok Gehlot, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, Ajay Maken, and Uday Bhan, met with the Election Commission of India on Wednesday to express their concerns regarding the results of the Haryana assembly elections.
