The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday arrested a Bangladesh man , who was carrying a drone without legitimate documents at the Petrapole check post along the international border in West Bengal.

The man with a Bangladeshi passport was carrying a " DJI RC2 Mini 4 Pro " drone, which along with other equipment like a remote panel costs Rs 90,000.

He was caught with the machine when his baggage was being checked by the BSF troops at the passenger terminal of the integrated check post (ICP), Petrapole, in the border district of North 24 Parganas Friday morning, a spokesperson for the border force the told news agency PTI.

"When questioned, the individual claimed the drone was for personal use but was unable to provide the necessary documentation, such as purchase receipts, registration, or travel declarations, which are required by Indian Customs regulations and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines for drone transport and use," the spokesperson said in a statement.

The case has been handed over to the Customs authorities at the ICP, the spokesperson said.

This comes a day after, a BSF personnel manning the International Border at the Fazilka sector resorted to firing after noticing a suspected drone movement last night.

"The troops resorted to firing in attempt to shoot down the drone after the suspected movement", the officials said adding that a massive search operation was launched after the incident.

Notably, the same night a Pakistan drone dropped a loaded IED near BOP Bahadur in Fazilka and an investigation is being conducted by the State Special Cell of Fazilka.
