Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has publicly called out online ticketing platform BookMyShow , demanding clarity on his status after being delisted amid political pressure. In a detailed post on X, Kamra requested that the platform either reinstate his ability to list shows or provide access to audience data collected from his performances.
The post comes a day after Kamra asked the BookMyShow, if they have delisted me or not. “ Hello @bookmyshow can you please confirm if I have your platform to list my shows if not it’s fine. I understand…,” he posted.
In his recent post, Kamra’s directly addresses BookMyShow’s role in the live entertainment industry, acknowledging its need for state cooperation. “I understand that you need a cordial relationship with the state, and I know that Mumbai is a major hub for live entertainment. Without the state’s cooperation, iconic shows like Coldplay and Guns N’ Roses wouldn’t be possible,” he wrote. However, he criticized the platform’s exclusive control over show listings, which he claims restricts artists’ access to their audiences.
Kamra calls out BookMyShow for fair access
The comedian, known for his sharp political satire, highlighted the financial burden imposed by BookMyShow’s business model. “You take a 10% cut of the revenue for listing shows, which is your business model. However, this raises an important point: No matter how big or small a comedian is, we are all compelled to spend between 6,000 to 10,000 rupees a day on advertising to reach our own audience,” Kamra stated. He argued that this practice disproportionately affects smaller artists, making it harder for them to sustain their careers.
The controversy began when Kamra he posted his stand-up show on YouTube, prompting backlash from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). The situation escalated when Rahool Kanal , General Secretary of Yuva Shiv Sena , reportedly pressured BookMyShow to remove Kamra’s content, leading to his delisting.

Kamra’s primary demand centers on access to his audience data. “What I’m requesting is simple: please ensure that you hand over the contact information of the audiences you’ve collected from my solo shows so that I can continue living my life with dignity and work towards a fair livelihood,” he wrote. He concluded with a clear ultimatum: “Do not delist me, or provide me with the data (contact information) I’ve generated through your platform from my audience.”
