But what stands out even more is the pace at which he has got there. Jaiswal reached the mark in just 16 innings, making him the joint second-fastest Indian to 1000 runs against England. He shares this record with former captain Mohammad Azharuddin , while Rahul Dravid remains the quickest, having achieved the feat in 15 innings.
In his ninth Test match against England, he collected his 1000th run when he romped past the 55 run mark. He got there by hitting Chris Woakes for a boundary on the fifth ball of the 36th over of India's inning.
Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most runs scored for India in Tests against England, with a total of 2,535 runs. Over his 24-year career, Tendulkar played 32 Tests against the English team. Following him is Sunil Gavaskar, who accumulated 2,483 runs in 38 Tests against England.
