Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Will Howard is learning from future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers directly. Interviewing for Chipped Ham & Football, Will Howard complimented Aaron Rodgers for being willing to lead him on and off the field—an initial indicator of a great relationship within the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback group.
Aaron Rodgers plays instrumental mentoring role for rookie quarterback Will Howard
For Will Howard, the recruit of the Pittsburgh Steelers from the 2024 NFL Draft, the professional football transition has been facilitated more easily by none other than Aaron Rodgers. While Aaron Rodgers will oversee the Pittsburgh Steelers offense this season, he's already taken on a secondary but vital role—that of mentor to the Kansas State quarterback.
In a recent visit to the Chipped Ham & Football podcast with insider Brian Batko, Will Howard spoke about his experience of working alongside Aaron Rodgers.
"He's been so awesome to me so far," Howard said. "I mean, obviously we've only gotten to be together for about three days, but I got a really good feeling about him and about this whole QB room. I think we already, in this past week, meshed really well — hit it off. I think we got a good vibe, good group, and Aaron's been just so willing to help me. He's like, 'Literally, as much or as little as you want me to help you, I'll be there.' He's already given me tips, little things here and there — even in the meeting room, on the field, in my drops, different little things. Obviously, I can't do the things that he can do mechanically, so I don't want to replicate that too much because that's pretty unique. But, for the most part, everything I can learn from that guy is invaluable."
Rodgers' tutelage has added another level of intrigue to the Steelers' offseason story. Earlier this year, there had been whispers that former Pittsburgh Steelers great quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was coaching Howard. While that was welcome news, Howard now has the chance to learn from two possible Hall of Famers—a fantasist's best case for any young quarterback entering the spotlight of the NFL.
