Prayagraj: The Kaushambi police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four people, including the parents of a minor girl, who had allegedly sold her to an Etah-based man for Rs 5 lakh.

The action was taken after the 13-year-old girl escaped from the clutches of the man and approached the police with her aunt. An FIR was lodged with Karari police in Kaushambi against Brijesh Raidas (father), mother, Kamlesh Pasi (middleman) and Karamveer Yadav (buyer) under sections 65 (1), 115 (2), 123, 127 (2), 143 (1) (b), and 3 (5) of BNS, sections 51 and 6 of the Pocso, and 3(2) (v) and 3 (2) (va) of the Prevention of Atrocity of SC/ST Act.

The girl, a resident of Sadikpur Senraha, in her complaint alleged that Birhojpur (Karari) resident Kamlesh and Karamveer (Etah), used to visit her house often. On March 14, when the duo was visiting her house, her mother fed her sedative laced food following which he fell unconscious. On gaining her senses the next day, she found herself at Karamveer's house in Etah.

SP (Kaushambi) Brijesh Srivastava told TOI: "When she asked Karamveer, he said he had purchased her from her parents for Rs 5 lakh. When the minor girl tried to escape, the buyer allegedly raped her repeatedly. She, however, managed to escape on March 16. On reaching home, her parents refused to take her in and asked her to return to Karamveer. The girl later approached her (aunt) and got the FIR registered."

The SP said based on the FIR lodged on Tuesday, police have arrested four people and further probe was on.
