Prayagraj: Targeting the BJP-led state govt over the deteriorating law and order condition, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Rai said, "Jungleraj is prevailing across the state and the pathetic condition of law and order could be gauged by the Karchhana incident where a Dalit youth was burnt to death in the land of Prayagraj a day before the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar."
He said, "Uttar Pradesh mai koi kanoon vyavastha naam ki cheez nahin hain (No law and order prevails in UP). Though the state govt always talks about zero tolerance against crime, the law and order condition has completely collapsed in the state." Even the apex court stated in a comment that there was no law and order in UP, he added. Rai said, "Be it the Varanasi case where a woman was allegedly raped by 23 men or the Kasganj rape incident where a woman was raped by eight persons, including a prominent leader of the ruling party, both the incidents aptly proved the fact that no law and order prevails in UP."
The UPCC president on Monday reached the house of the slain Dalit youth whose half-burnt body was found in Isauta Lohangpur village under the Karchhana police station in the trans-Yamuna pocket of the Prayagraj district on Sunday morning. Consoling the family, Rai said that the Congress party was with them until they get justice.
Apart from demanding Rs 50 lakh compensation, a job and a permanent house for the family, he also demanded stringent action against the culprits. He said, "The Congress party is standing with the Dalits and would be fighting till the Karchhana Dalit family gets justice."
Commenting on the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's stay in Kanpur and inaugurating Dr BR Ambedkar auditorium inside the RSS office on Ambedkar Jayanti, the UPCC chief said that BJP and RSS are only pretending to love Dalits. He said, "Yeh keval dikhawa hai and aaj unki Sarkar mai, ek Dalit ki hatya ki ja rahi hai." He added, "I would request Mohan Bhagwat to send Yogi to ‘math' after taking his resignation."
Earlier, Rai garlanded the statue of BR Ambedkar at the high court crossing and said that Ambedkar was a great and outstanding intellectual and is widely known as the architect of the Indian constitution. Rai said that Dr Ambedkar represented the marginalised section of society and fought for social justice and social equity.
Congress leaders, including Fuzail Hashmi, Kishore Varshney, Mukund Tiwari, Ashok Patel, AN Singh and Sudhakar Tiwari, were present.
