Thunderstorms, Lightning In Chennai Today Amid Yellow Alert; Will Rain Continue In City? Check 7-Day Forecast

Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert on Monday for thunderstorms and lightning in Chennai. The weather conditions in the city are predicted to be partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 26 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity oscillated between 72 percent and 74 percent.

On October 7, October 8, October 9 and October 10, the city is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 35 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is expected to remain constant at 26 degrees Celsius. Later, on October 11 and October 12, the city is anticipated to witness rain with maximum temperature fluctuating between 34 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to remain constant at 26 degrees Celsius. Yellow Alert Across Tamil NaduThe weather forecasting department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning across Tamil Nadu. Areas including Kanyakumari, Thirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Coimbatore, Thiruppur, Thiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Chennai, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Salem, Namakkal, Erode and rest of the areas have received a yellow alert. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Chennai stood at 68 coming under ''moderate category ''.
