With an eye on the World Test Championship (WTC), India began their Test calendar on a brilliant note. The team took the honours on Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh after R Ashwin's brilliant 102* and Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten 86 helped the team post 339-6 on Day 1 of the first Test. India were in deep trouble when Hasan Mahmud rattled the top order and left the hosts reeling at 144-6, however, the unbeaten 195-run partnership ensured India ended the day in the driver's seat.India have 10 Tests left in the WTC cycle and they would need at least five wins to stay alive in the final face. They play five Tests at home, including three against New Zealand, while the following five Tests will be against Australia in Australia. It's no secret that the Australia tour will be a tough assignment for the Rohit Sharma-led side thus wins in all homes games is a must for team India to keep their final chances afloat. The India vs Bangladesh series is the first Test assignment for Gautam Gambhir as head coach. Gambhir took over the leadership reins of team India from Rahul Dravid. He led the team to a T20I series win in Sri Lanka but suffered a defeat in the ODI series. Gambhir would be hoping for a winning start to his Test coachship and possibly lead them to their first-ever WTC title. Meanwhile, former India coach Rahul Dravid shared his thoughts on Gambhir and said his experience as a player and coach (IPL) would come in handy for India. "He (Gambhir) has got a lot of experience, as a player also he has played a lot, he obviously coached quite a bit. I am sure he will be great," said Dravid, during a media interaction at the launch event of 'Roombr,' a 'Digital Classroom' provider."In any situation everyone brings his own experience and knowledge to the table. I am sure the team will benefit from everything that Gautam brings to them with his team," he added.Meanwhile, India would look to post a 400+ score in the first inning which would put them in a commanding position in the first Test.
