External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hit out at Pakistan after PM Shehbaz Sharif raised the Kashmir bogey during his UN General Assembly speech. On Sharif calling for dialogue to resolve the 'Kashmir issue', Jaishankar said that the issue to be resolved between both countries now is only the restoration of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). While addressing the 79th United Nations General Assembly Session (UNGA) in New York, Jaishankar warned Pakistan that every action will have "consequences". "The issue to be resolved between us is only the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan and of course, abandonment of Pakistan long long-standing attachment to terrorism," EAM Jaishankar said. “We heard some bizarre assertions from this very forum yesterday. Let me make India’s position very clear – Pakistan’s policy of cross-border terrorism will never succeed. And it can have no expectation of impunity. On the contrary, actions will certainly have consequences," he said. During his UN speech, Jaishankar said that Pakistan's "GDP can only be measured in terms of radicalisation and its exports in the form of terrorism." The minister went on to express that the consequences of Pakistan's policies are now manifesting within its own society, describing this as a form of "karma" that cannot be blamed on the international community. "Today, we see the ills it sought to visit on others consume its own society. It can't blame the world. This is only karma. A dysfunctional nation coveting the lands of others must be exposed and must be countered," he added.

Shehbaz Sharif Raises Kashmir Bogey At UNPakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday accused India of “massive expansion of its military capabilities" and issuing threats to cross the LoC for taking over Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, as he raised the Kashmir issue again in his address at the United Nations General Assembly.Sharif demanded that New Delhi should reverse the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, which gave Jammu and Kashmir a special status, and also charged India of trying to subjugate its Muslim population and obliterate its Islamic heritage. He called on New Delhi to enter a dialogue with Islamabad for a peaceful resolution of the dispute. "Let me state in no uncertain terms, Pakistan will respond most decisively to any Indian aggression, therefore, to secure durable peace, India must reverse the unilateral and illegal measures it has taken since 5th of August 2019 and enter into a dialogue for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people," he claimed. India's Sharp Retort At PakistanEarlier, an a sharp retort to PM Shehbaz Sharif's Kashmir reference during his UN General Assembly speech, India said that Pakistan's “fingerprints" are on terrorist incidents across the world and the country should realise that cross-border terrorism against India will “inevitably invite consequences”. Indian diplomat Bhavika Mangalanandan, posted at India’s Permanent Mission at UN in New York, said that a country run by the military, with a global reputation for terrorism, narcotics, trade and transnational crime, has had the “audacity to attack the world's largest democracy”.Highlighting the terror attacks, Mangalanandan said, "As the world knows, Pakistan has long employed cross-border terrorism as a weapon against its neighbours. It has attacked our parliament, our financial capital, Mumbai, marketplaces and pilgrimage routes. The list is long. For such a country to speak about violence anywhere is hypocrisy at its worst."Accusing Pakistan of disrupting election process in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian diplomat said, "It is even more extraordinary for a country with a history of rigged elections to talk about political choices that too, in a democracy. The real truth is that Pakistan covets our territory and in fact has continuously used terrorism to disrupt elections in Jammu and Kashmir, an inalienable and integral part of India."
