A fire alarm going off at Stockley Park caused VAR to be halted during clash with . Once the players emerged back out of the tunnel after half-time, viewers on were informed that VAR would not be operational due to an emergency inside the VAR hub.
VAR officials likely had to evacuate their area while the match resumed, as Spurs trailed 2-0 to Forest in another abject 45 minutes for Ange Postecoglou's outfit.
A statement issued by the league's match centre read: "The match will be operating without VAR until further notice due to a fire alarm at the VAR Hub at Stockley Park."
On the 51st minute the league confirmed that VAR was back up and running, without an incident of note in the six minutes without use of video technology.
The visitors in north London took the lead after just five minutes when Elliott Anderson struck from the edge of the box. A corner fell to the former Newcastle midfielder and his shot went through the arms of Guglielmo Vicario.
Chris Wood thought that he had doubled Forest's advantage but the goal was chalked off when semi-automated offside confirmed that Wood moved beyond the last defender.
He had the ball in the back of the net again minutes later, however, and this time it counted. A deep free-kick was not dealt with by the defence and Wood beat Vicario to a cross in another disappointing moment for the goalkeeper.
If Spurs cannot overturn their two-goal deficit, they will be left 16th in the table after a remarkable 18 defeats in 33 matches. They next travel to Anfield to face champions-elect Liverpool.
Three points for Forest, meanwhile, puts them back up to third place in the table and above Newcastle once again, strengthening their grip on the Champions League places.
They would be three points above sixth-placed Chelsea and play Brentford, Crystal Palace, Leicester, West Ham and Chelsea after an FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City next.
