A new series has documented 's first 100 days in office as President of the United States, with commentators labelling him "super dangerous" and an "idiot." So far during his second term in office, the president has caused plenty of gripping action, from turbulent global tariffs to accusing other leaders of "gambling with World War Three."
Hosted by Channel 4 presenter Matt Frei, the hour-long programme recalled what's been happening behind the headlines with the help of several insiders, such as politicians and a former White House Press Secretary. The big question is whether Trump's actions are part of a thought-out strategy.
Among the experts in the documentary, Illinois politician Joe Walsh branded Trump a "madman" and a "super-dangerous idiot" after he imposed sweeping global tariffs.
President Trump's 'Liberation Day' global tariffs wiped $2.4 trillion from the S&P 500, which suffered its biggest one-day loss since March 2020. The President imposed a new 10 percent on goods, with claiming that Sir "was very happy" with the trade tariffs.
His tariffs received backlash from within conservative circles, as several GOP senators, including former Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have sided with the Democrats, condemning Trump's trade action.
Elsewhere in the documentary, the film also covered the chaotic days of Trump's involvement with Ukraine, the Middle East, Russia, the economy, gender and diversity, and sacking thousands of government workers.
Nevine Mabro, Commissioning Editor News and Current Affairs at Channel 4, said: "From trade tariffs to new alliances; Gaza to Ukraine, Trump's second term has seen him hit the ground running with hurricane force. This documentary combs through the chaos left in the wake of the US President's first hundred days and goes behind the headlines to examine the seismic events that have shaken the US and the world."
Jeremy Daldry, ITN Productions Deputy Head of UK Factual, stated: "The challenge when making any current affairs documentary is how to pin down evolving situations. Trump is more unpredictable than most, making the first 100 days of his second term so riveting and the need for our programme that presses 'pause' to allow us to consider the facts and implications even more essential."
At the documentary's end, Matt Frei summarized that the USA will celebrate 250 years since it became independent from the British monarchy. Therefore, he said it was "ironic" that Trump is trying to rebrand himself during his revolution.
