Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz will have to do it the hard way if they are to triumph in the US Open's revamped mixed doubles tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday. The wildcard pairing has been drawn against top seeds Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula at Flushing Meadows, while Serbian pair Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic could await in the quarter-finals.
Alcaraz will not have much time to prepare, either, amid controversy surrounding the scheduling of his Cincinnati Open final against Jannik Sinner. The latter, who beat Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final this summer, has spoken out about the lack of one-week Masters 1000 events currently on the ATP Tour.
