Sainsbury's shoppers urged to get Nectar card prices without a Nectar card

They're a constant source of debate among supermarket shoppers: those loyalty card prices which offer you a much cheaper price if you have a Tesco Clubcard or a Sainsbury's Nectar Card.

But whatever your feelings about supermarkets offering you cheaper prices in exchange for your personal information and shopping data, there is actually a way you can get Nectar Card prices at without having a Nectar card.

The little known loophole involve going to a smaller Sainsbury's store such as a Sainsbury's local.

Sainsbury's does not currently offer Nectar Card Prices in its smaller Sainsbury's Local stores.

That means that shoppers can get the same prices as Nectar Card offers in Sainsbury's Local - without having a Nectar card.

Consumer magazine Which? said: "The average price difference without a Tesco Clubcard was 10 percent, but much less - 5 percent - for Sainsbury's customers without a Nectar card. "This is because some offers that were branded as member-only Nectar prices in larger stores were available to everyone in Local stores, due to Sainsbury's Locals not currently running loyalty discounts.

"So if you're not keen on joining supermarket loyalty schemes, or are unable to do so, Sainsbury's Local might be a cheaper option than Tesco Express."

Of course, there are still benefits to having a Nectar card, such as converting points into money off vouchers.

And Which? also found that smaller supermarket stores tended to have higher prices on staple items, such as 8 percent higher prices for milk.
