Rory McIlroy is set to retain his luxury Florida mansion despite having a lavish property revamped in the UK. The golfing sensation has been making waves on the world's greens and fairways this year, clinching the career Grand Slam at the Masters in April.
He's also been making significant strides in his family life with wife Erica Stoll and their five-year-old daughter Poppy. Earlier this year, the 36-year-old confirmed that his Wentworth property was complete after substantial developments. It is reported that McIlroy purchased the sprawling estate in 2023, but has spent the last two years investing a reported £9million to breathe new life into it.
Ahead of the Genesis Scottish Open, McIlroy spoke about settling into the new home, explaining: "We came back a few weeks ago and moved into our new home in Wentworth and have been trying to settle in. It's amazing what two weeks of a bit of detachment can do for you.
"Sitting there being with your own thoughts for a while. Yeah, it's been nice to have this time to reflect and also to rekindle my excitement and enthusiasm for the rest of the year."
McIlroy's home is nestled in the heart of Surrey, in an estate which has been occupied by a number of famous faces and billionaires over the years. Fellow golfers Thomas Bjorn and Ernie Els currently have properties there, as do Kevin Pietersen and Andriy Shevchenko.
Meanwhile, figures such as Prince Andrew, Boris Berezovsky and even the former King of Thailand, Prajadhipok, have at some point called this exclusive location home. However, it doesn't mean that McIlroy is planning to sell his luxurious mansion in Jupiter.
Given the demands of the PGA Tour and the number of US-based events he will participate in, it's expected that McIlroy will spend time at the home he purchased from Els in 2012. Now believed to be worth a staggering £16.6m, the grand 13,000-square-foot estate is located in the ultra-chic Bear's Club, boasting nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, along with a state-of-the-art gym, a home theatre, a games room and a recording studio.
However, this Floridian paradise isn't the only property McIlroy has owned over the years. The five-time major champion also owns a sprawling residence in La Quinta, California, and previously owned a breathtaking home in County Down.
In addition, his international property portfolio includes a chic apartment in New York, and an extraordinary villa in the UAE. It comes as McIlroy and Stoll seem to have overcome their marital issues from last year.
The Northern Irishman sent shockwaves through the golfing world by filing for divorce from his wife last May, on the eve of the PGA Championship, only to withdraw the divorce petition a month later. Speaking to the Guardian about the decision, he said: "There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate.
"Responding to each rumour is a fool's game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."

McIlroy's attention is now turned to this month's Ryder Cup following a turbulent year. The world No. 2 enjoyed early triumph at the ATandT Pebble Beach Pro-AM in February before securing the prestigious Players Championship the following month.
A career Grand Slam materialised in April, as McIlroy defeated Justin Rose in a dramatic play-off at Augusta National to finally claim the elusive Green Jacket alongside his collection of US Open, PGA Championship and Open Championship titles. Nevertheless, McIlroy has found victories hard to come by on the Tour in the months since, with his finest showing after the Masters being a T2 finish at the Scottish Open in July.
