Prince William sparked another fan frenzy today as he was mobbed by locals again, who wanted to see him during his second day in Brazil. The Prince of Wales visited the small island of Paqueta, with islanders declaring the day "The Day of the Prince".
William arrived on the peaceful island on a small Brazilian Naval speedboat, waving to those gathered along the shore. He was cheered as he stepped out of the boat and was mobbed by locals when he went over to say hello.
William managed to catch a baby who was thrust towards him during a walkabout in Brazil, joking that they "mustn't drop him!" before giving him a cuddle.
The prince held 10-month-old Joaquim Monteiro and asked his grandmother, "What's his name?" and "How old is he?".
Holding the baby with the confidence of a father of three young children, William said: "Bless him" before handing him back to his grandmother Christina.
Royal fans were quick to spot the sweet moment and went on social media to express their jubilation.
One user wrote on X: "The way she handed him her baby [laughing face emoji]. The Brazilian public has truly turned in to welcome him and such a diverse crowd: young, old, men, Women..etc. Prince William is truly beloved."
Another one added: "Love it. I would have done the same and quickly snapped a photograph. Love the way the trip is going."
A third one exclaimed: "He's a natural Papa!"
A fourth one said: "Prince William in dad mode delighted the crowd!"
The heir shook dozens of hands and bent down for selfies with the excited locals, who had declared the visit "The Day of the Prince".
Children waited eagerly to meet their first-ever royal visitor, many of whom had created colourful drawings to hand over to him, calling him "Prince of the Island".
Marcel Gomes de Castro, 12, gave the Prince two of his best paintings: one seascape and one of a naval boat in the small harbour.
Prince William was heard to say "obrigago" and "bom dia" on repeat, clasping his hands in a signed thank you, as he did not understand much of the Portuguese being spoken.
For parts of the walkabout, he called over a translator to understand short conversations.
Paqueta has around 5,000 residents and covers an area of just 1.2 km².
