The has released its long-range forecast for the , showing a clear divide between the north and south of the UK.

From Saturday, October 19 to Monday, October 28, much of the UK will experience changeable and unsettled weather, particularly in northern and western regions.

A deep low-pressure system may develop in these areas, bringing periods of heavy rain and potentially strong winds.

Meanwhile, southern areas will see more settled conditions, especially towards the end of the month, as high pressure builds, according to weather experts at the national forecaster.

While the unsettled weather may impact the west and north, including strong winds and heavy downpours, the south is likely to experience clearer skies and milder temperatures.

However, as high pressure sets in, there is an increasing risk of overnight frost and fog-with fog potentially lingering into daylight hours.

Looking further ahead to Tuesday, October 29 through to Tuesday, November 12, high pressure will likely take hold across much of the UK.

This will lead to drier conditions and large fluctuations in temperature, with cold nights followed by milder days where fog doesn't linger.

Frost could also become more widespread, particularly overnight.

The Met Office warns that while southern regions remain relatively mild, the northwest could see more unsettled, colder conditions by mid-November as the high-pressure system tracks northwest.

The difference in temperatures within the regions in the UK's autumnal weather is expected to persist throughout this period.

The Met Office also advises that forecasts become more uncertain beyond five days due to the chaotic nature of the atmosphere, so localized details might change closer to the time.
