Luke Littler revealed he was left with egg on his face after Manchester United's humiliating defeat to Manchester City on Sunday. Ruben Amorim's side were defeated 3-0 by their bitter rivals, but Littler doesn't believe the Portuguese tactician should be lumbered with all of the blame.
Sunday's loss at the Etihad Stadium was United's fourth winless game across all competitions this term, with the Old Trafford outfit sitting 14th in the Premier League table. It's been claimed that Amorim is running out of time to turn things around, but Littler claimed there's more to United's current slump than just the manager.
Speaking to Express Sport at the launch of Target Darts' pop-up shop in Manchester city centre, the world darts champion explained: "Well, obviously looking back on it I thought we could get a result [vs City]. Obviously not. But it's United."
On the criticism being thrown Amorim's way, he added: "Obviously people are saying 'Amorim out' but you've got to look at the players. Some of them don't fit the system, I don't think. I think it's going to be very tough but as long as we get into the top-eight Conference League, that's what I'm hoping for."

Not exactly a complete show of support for the ex-Sporting boss, but a suggestion that Amorim could still be the best man for the job. It doesn't get much easier for Amorim and United this upcoming weekend, with Club World Cup champions Chelsea making the trip to Old Trafford.
Littler might be spared from having to watch United's next Premier League outing, given he's in Euro Tour action at the Hungarian Darts Trophy - a competition the Nuke was absent from last year. He's scheduled to be involved this time around, with Littler gearing up for the busiest part of the darts schedule.
On his preparations for this weekend, as well as what's to come after that, he continued: "There's obviously still the Euro Tour this weekend... and then you've got the European Championships, which is another major. But this is it. This is a busy schedule. Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Players Championships and then obviously the Worlds. But it's all practice up until the worlds."
World-leading darts manufacturer Target Darts opened the UK's ultimate darting pop-up experience in Manchester to celebrate their biggest-ever product launch. For more details on the latest darts products, please visit: www.target-darts.co.uk
Littler has been instrumental in putting darts on the map - something evident by the hundreds of fans who swarmed to the pop-up shop in Manchester to get a glimpse of the all-conquering star. On the growth of the sport, as well as Target's new store, the 18-year-old concluded: "I know myself, I've changed the sport in many ways but for Target this is probably one of the biggest they have done.
"I think the last pop-up store was two years ago at the West Ham United ground but I know the work that everyone at Target has put into this. Us players, we do our job on the board and then it impacts on all the fans wanting to buy all our products."
