There's nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread coming out of the oven. However, the art and process of making bread from scratch can take several hours, and not everyone has the time.
To help home cooks make bakery-worthy bread with minimal ingredients and no time at all, TikTok creator Ciara, better known as The Tummy Fairy, revealed her fool-proof recipe. In a recent video, Ciara claimed that all you need to make some scrumptious bread rolls is just two ingredients. Her recipe cuts out the need for a long, drawn-out proving time.
All you'll need is self raising flour and Greek yoghurt. What's even better, to help speed up the baking process, is that you can bake the bread completely in the air fryer.
Ciara said: "I've used this two ingredient dough for making naan and flat breads for years.
"I've also tried it with bagels, which I love and you can also substitute the yogurt with cottage cheese or kefir! You can add in flavourings and herbs but this is the base recipe, and it turned out lovely for bread rolls."
She explained that if you planned on swapping out the self raising flour for spelt or plain flour, you would need to add baking powder to help the bread rise. Ciara continued: "They're so delicious and they'd be perfect in the kids' lunch boxes too."
Ciara's video has already been viewed over 706,700 times, receiving 14,500 likes and 282 comments. Faz said: "Looks yummy, will try it tomorrow."
D wrote: "As soon as I get the Greek yogurt I'm making these."
A third commented: "I'm trying this tonight because it's 7pm and I haven't had tea yet because Tesco run."
Helen suggested, "Try cottage cheese ones. I hated cottage cheese all my life but I made the rolls few weeks back and I haven't stopped making them," while Roniroo said, "This'll be the death of me .... Yummy doing this tomorrow for sure, thanks."
If you want to recreate a quick and easy bread recipe that needs no proving time, this is what you'll need to do.
Ingredients
- 300g Greek yogurt
- 300g self raising flour
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Method
Add the flour, salt and yogurt into a large mixing bowl. Mix it around with a spoon then just use your hands to gather it all into a dough.
Transfer onto a floured surface and knead lightly with your hands, and cut into six. Shape into even balls with your hands.
Preheat your air fryer for a few minutes, brush the tray with oil so the dough doesn't stick, then pop in the rolls leaving space between them. Brush with egg wash. This is where you can add seeds, if you like.
Air fryer on the standard setting at 175 °C for 12-15 minutes, depending on size of the rolls.
Enjoy warm with your fave toppings or you can freeze them once cooled, enjoy.
