Alan Carr reveals BBC Picture Slam moment too embarrassing to air

The BBC game show sees contestants share their picture knowledge in the hopes of winning thousands of pounds. However, as host Alan Carrrecently revealed, this can usually have unexpectedly hilarious results.

The famous comedian shared a particularly funny incident where a show participant confused a photo of Richard Osman with a prison inmate.

He told Radio Times: "There was one funny moment where the picture was Richard Osman, and the question was, 'Who is this?'

"Well, it's a family show, so I won't reveal the person that the contestant said, but it's someone who is serving quite a long prison sentence and is not a very nice man.

"We all just burst out laughing, and the contestant was so embarrassed, but that's what pressure does to you, and I love those 'what did you just say moments?! It adds an extra layer of fun."

Following the success of the first series, launched in September 2023, the addictive quiz show is back for a second series with added pressure and more pictures.

The first series averaged 3.3 million viewers across its eight-episode run and saw its strongest audience in the penultimate episode, which averaged 4.6 million. This made this the biggest Entertainment launch on the BBC last year and the second-biggest new Entertainment launch across the market in 2023.

Picture Slam is a game in which you need to know something about everything. In three teams of two, contestants battle against the clock in a series of thrilling rounds to identify as many pictures as they can to be in with the chance of winning the £10,000 jackpot.

Alan previously shared: "I am over the moon that Picture Slam is coming back. I love the show so much, and I'm bowled over by how popular it's become.

"It's manic, a little bit random and full of fun - it's like if I was a quiz show!!! Let's do it all over again!"

Ed De Burgh and Ben Shephard, Executive Producers for Triple Brew Media shared: "Picture Slam's fast-paced, play along nature combined with Alan's unique blend of wit and humour, captivated audiences last year.

"We can't wait to get back into the studio and bring more Picture Slam to everyone!"

It comes amid reports that ITV bosses are looking to poach Alan and co-star Amanda Holden.

They believe the pals can replicate the success of BBC travel series Amanda & Alan's Italian Job, which recently filmed its third series. Viewers have seen the famous duo help renovate properties around the Med.

A TV insider said: "You're talking about a potential 21st-century version of Wish You Were Here...? This is ironic because Alan has joked that Amanda - who's often pictured holidaying in a luxurious foreign resort - is a modern-day Judith Chalmers.

"But in recent years, many of her journeys abroad have been with Alan by her side, and their friendship has grown deeper while making the three series of the Mediterranean travel shows.

"The duo are even on holiday together now in Greece, and the most recent video of them messing around in the Med has been watched eight million times.
