Why is white foam forming in the Yamuna?

Which chemicals are responsible?

The main reason for this white foam is phosphate, which is found in the waste from factories and sewage. When this phosphate mixes with the water of Yamuna, it has a chemical effect and foam starts forming. Apart from this, detergents and other chemicals also play an important role in the formation of foam. Due to the high amount of phosphate in Yamuna, the problem of white foam is increasing year after year.

Why is white foam not seen in other rivers?

Now the question arises as to why such white foam is not seen in other rivers. Actually, foam is formed in other rivers as well, but its quantity is less. The problem is more in Yamuna because the level of industrial waste and urban garbage is very high here.
