Modi government announces free food grains for poor people for next 4 years

A great good news has come for the poor people of the country. The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken an important decision, under which the scheme of free food distribution to the poor people has been extended for the next four years. Now this scheme will remain in force till 2028. This decision has brought great relief to crores of poor citizens of the country.

Free grain distribution will continue till 2028

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced in a press conference on Wednesday that the Modi government has decided to extend the free grain distribution scheme till 2028. He informed that the poor will continue to get free fortified rice for the next four years under the government's Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKAY) and other welfare schemes. Along with this, the Union Cabinet has also approved other important schemes, including Mid Day Meal and PM Poshan Yojana.

The central government will bear the entire expense

The entire cost of this scheme will be borne by the central government, whose budget will be around Rs 17,082 crore. Its aim is not only to provide relief to the poor, but also to promote nutrition and health. Ashwini Vaishnav said that the supply of fortified rice will also help in overcoming problems like anemia and micronutrient deficiency in the country.

Expanding the supply of fortified rice

The government's fortified rice supply scheme was being implemented in a phased manner. Under this scheme, the target was to expand it across the country by March 2024. Now it has been decided to continue it till December 2028. The Union Minister said that under this scheme, it has already been successfully implemented in three phases, and its positive impact has been seen on the health of the poor. While on the one hand the poor are getting nutritious grains through this scheme, on the other hand the health level of the nation is also improving.

Road projects approved in Rajasthan and Punjab

Along with the grain distribution scheme, the government has also given the green signal to several road projects. The Union Cabinet has approved road construction in the border areas of Rajasthan and Punjab. 2,280 km of roads will be constructed in these areas, which will cost about Rs 4,406 crore.

Development of National Maritime Heritage Complex

The Union Cabinet has also approved the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal in Gujarat. The project will be completed in two phases, aimed at showcasing India's rich and diverse maritime heritage. The complex is planned to be the world's largest maritime heritage site, which will showcase India's maritime culture on a global platform.

These schemes of the government will not only provide relief to the poor, but will also play an important role in the development of the country. While the supply of fortified rice will improve the nutritional level of the poor, road projects will increase the convenience of transportation in border areas and will also accelerate local development.
