Know World's 50 Best Bars 2024: Find Top Asian Bars on the Global Stage

The prestigious list of the World's 50 Best Bars for 2024 was unveiled in Madrid on October 22, recognizing the best bars around the world. Topping the list is Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City, a hidden gem in the Juárez neighbourhood. This intimate speakeasy, with only 34 seats and a 90-minute stay limit, is known for its exceptional cocktails and impeccable hospitality. After earning the title of the best bar in North America earlier this year, Handshake now takes the global crown, offering a cocktail experience that blends unique flavors and textures.

Following closely behind is Bar Leone in Hong Kong, which claimed second place after being named the best bar in Asia for 2024. This Italian-inspired bar is celebrated for its accessible "cocktail popolari" or "cocktails for the people." Sips in Barcelona, which ranked first last year, secured the third spot this year, making waves with its rapid rise since opening in 2021. It is now recognized as the best bar in Europe.

The annual ranking, compiled by The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, includes votes from 680 industry experts, including bartenders, cocktail consultants, and drinks writers worldwide. The 2024 list showcases a mix of grand hotel bars, quirky salons, and hidden speakeasies, reflecting the diversity of the global bar scene.

Asia continues to make its mark, with 12 Asian bars featured on the list, solidifying the continent’s growing influence in the cocktail world. Singapore boasts four bars on the list, joining London and New York as major players in the industry. The top-ranked Asian bars include Jigger & Pony in Singapore (5th), Zest in Seoul (9th), BKK Social Club in Bangkok (12th), and Coa in Hong Kong (18th), among others.
