Georgina Cooper, the British supermodel and iconic figure of the ‘Cool Britannia’ era, has sadly passed away at the age of 46. The mother-of-one, who was a close friend of Kate Moss, died while on holiday with her husband on the Greek island of Kos, just months after their wedding.
Tributes have flooded in from fellow models, including Jade Parfitt, Erin O'Connor, Jodie Kidd, and Helena Christensen, who remembered her as a "ray of light" with "huge achievements in the industry."
Cooper had been enjoying a trip with her new husband, Nigel, when she fell ill. Initially taken to the local hospital, her condition worsened, leading doctors to arrange for an air ambulance to transfer her to Crete for more advanced care. Despite intensive care treatment for five days, she tragically passed away. Her body was flown back to the UK last week.
Her former agent, Dean Goodman, shared his grief, saying, "Georgina had been unwell during Covid and had developed some health problems, but she had plans for the future. She had just married and was looking forward to life. Everybody is devastated. She was a genuine superstar."
Cooper was discovered by a modeling agency at the age of 13. Her big break came at 15 when she appeared in a Bon Jovi music video. In the 1990s, she became a well-known face in the fashion world, earning the title of London’s ‘original gap-toothed girl.’ She worked with iconic photographer Corinne Day and graced the covers of US Vogue and The Face, becoming a muse for some of fashion's most celebrated figures.
