Not Ajay, Rohit Shetty's Cop to Turn Superhero in Big-Budget Film with John Abraham

Rohit Shetty, currently working on the biopic of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria—where a feared villain from Pathan is cast as a policeman—is now ready to take one of his police characters to a whole new level: a superhero. This transformation comes in the form of the upcoming high-budget Indian superhero film Munkeeman, with a hefty budget of around 150 crores.

Munkeeman is directed by Abhishek Sharma, known for his work on Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran. The film is slated to begin shooting in early 2026 and is said to be inspired by an urban legend from Delhi in 2001. This film will explore themes of mystery, social paranoia, and raw reality, but with John Abraham starring as the superhero.
