The new Stardew Valley update 1.7 patch is 'going to be a while' according to ConcernedApe

Solo developer ConcernedApe has announced an upcoming update for the popular farming game, Stardew Valley, but fans are advised not to get their hopes up too soon.

Stardew Valley, crafted by the one-man team of ConcernedApe, is a retro-style farming and friendship management simulator that has become one of the most versatile games in the industry. It allows players to live out their fantasies, whether they want to grow massive vegetables, battle monstrous creatures, or form friendships (or more) with an entire town's worth of characters.

The game's popularity was further boosted when it featured among the PS Plus Essential September 2025 games.

Stardew Valley has seen significant changes, particularly after the launch of update 1.6, which introduced major features that made a big impact in-game. Despite expectations that the creator would be focusing on his new game, Haunted Chocolatier, it seems he hasn't abandoned Stardew Valley just yet.

He recently revealed that a new update is in progress – but cautioned fans not to anticipate its contents too eagerly. It's a tall order to make of the most dedicated fanbase in gaming, but it's going to have to comply.

Stardew isn't Stardone

It's a reasonable stance to take, particularly given that the developer single-handedly creates all content for the game, though it appears there's a roadmap for the update – albeit one that's still some distance away.

that the update will be available to all players, after some worried it might be exclusive to the Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch 2 edition launching this autumn.

Whilst details remain scarce, one thing's certain – additional content for one of the finest farming games ever made is always welcome news, and it's heartwarming to see that despite massive sales figures, its creator remains committed to the project even as his focus shifts to other ventures.
