Kerry Katona reveals she 'almost became an escort' at 16 before landing model job

Kerry Katona revealed she almost signed up to become an escort when she was only 16 years old. The 44-year-old former Atomic Kitten star has often been open about her tumultuous upbringing from doing cocaine with her mother Sue, who suffered from mental health issues, to landing in foster care.

In a new interview on Paul C Brunson's podcast, We Need To Talk, Kerry bares all about her childhood and tells the Celebs Go Dating about her early career. Revealing she wanted to be a Page 3 model as 'she wasn't going to be rocket scientist', she said: "I had a great set of tits. Like, I'd been modeling since I was three… so I was, like, a really good-looking kid, you know, and I had these great boobs."

Her mother set off her portfolio of pictures, with the photographer asking whether she wanted to do topless photos. The singer, who said she knew from a young age that she was going to be famous, said she's grateful about landing in the industry.

Host Paul asked Kerry to turn the topic back to the topless photos for her portfolio, with Kerry admitting it was 'her idea'. At that point, she admitted she was even thinking about being an escort.

"I even was gonna sign up to be an escort," she said. "My mum took me into a sex shop. I didn't end up doing it… Well, there was a photographer and mum didn’t end up coming, that's all I can say.

"And he convinced me to do open leg shots - but I’ve gone back to doing it on OnlyFans, gone back to my roots - and that came back to haunt me then, when I became famous, he sold all those pictures.

"And Brian paid a fortune to try getting removed, and then I ended up going on OnlyFans and doing it anyways, the irony…"

When she was 17 years old, she worked endless odd jobs, including as a lap dancer, a BT sales advisor, a glass collector as well as working in a chippy and at JD.

During the honest conversation, Kerry also opened up about her tumultuous childhood. The star, who said she was a product of an affair, revealed her mum's many relationships over the years.

When Paul asked whether she felt loved by her mother, Kerry admitted: "This is the thing Paul, I didn’t know any different. That was my upbringing. My mum's upbringing was horrendous. She loved me, but I just don't think she knew how to be a mum, really.”

She went on to emotionally discuss her mum being sectioned, with the star visiting her on the weekends.
