Rock star Dave Edmunds is critically ill in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest and dying in his wife's arms.
The 81 year old, who had a Christmas number one hit with his song I Hear You Knocking, is said to have died in his wife's arms before being revived. He is now in hospital with brain damage and severe memory loss.
Dave's heartbroken wife shared the news in a post on Facebook, in which she recalled the horrifying moment Dave had CPR performed on him by a nurse. It comes after Sir Michael Palin says he is preparing for the end of his life in sad update.
In the post, she wrote: "My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest". Cici revealed the star "died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive". Cici added that a nurse was with her at the time and performed "heavy CPR" on the rockstar.

The star's husband revealed the nurse said she was "gonna stop" as "Dave is gone" but Cici "refused to give up" and the nurse continued "heavy duty CPR" on the star. The star's wife then revealed that "by a miracle" Dave was revived by doctors at an intensive care unit operating room.
Sadly, the star has brain damage and severe memory loss and is 'at risk' of another cardiac arrest, his wife revealed as she said he has a "long journey ahead of him".
Cici also admitted she has "PTSD from the horrific experience". She then ended the post with: "Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always."
The rock star's wife was flooded with messages of support in the comments as one fan wrote: "All my love, support and prayers to Dave, and please stay on your road to recovery, CiCi."

Another added: "Sweet Cicci. The nightmare you both are going through is unimaginable... All my [heart] your way..." A third penned: "Dear Cici, what you're both going through is unbelievable, and I hope it all comes to a happy end! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you both all the be".
Dave, who was born in Cardiff, had a string of hits in the 1970s and 1980s including his Christmas number one. He hit the festive top spot with his rendition of Smiley Lewis' I Hear You Knocking, which even reached number four in the US charts.
During his career, Dave formed Love Sculpture before going solo.
The rock star also collaborated with a string of other big names including Ringo Starr for his band: Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and even worked with Paul McCartney on the 1984 film Give My Regards to Broad Street, in which Edmunds performed in McCartney's band.
