BBC Breakfast host 'shouldn't have said that' after dig turns awkward on live TV

A presenter was left squirming after dropping a comment they instantly wished to take back.

Breakfast rolled out its latest edition on Saturday (November 9), with and steering the ship, ready to delve into the day's most pressing news from their iconic red sofa.

In one segment, the duo chatted with Michelle Wright, head of care at Zoe's Place in Liverpool, praising the exceptional support the hospice provides. The charity aids children under five with severe or life-threatening conditions.

It had faced closure by year's end but was saved by generous donations from companies and individuals. Also gracing the sofa were Amanda and her daughter Esme, who have benefited from the hospice's services.

However, an awkward moment ensued when Charlie seemed to take a swipe at his own programme. Amanda explained her daughter's subdued demeanour, saying: "She's normally very happy and smiley.

"But I don't think she's feeling herself this morning so she's very chill.", reports . To this, Charlie quipped: "She won't be the first person who has slept through an entire chunk of BBC Breakfast.

The remark drew laughter from his guests. Naga added: "Nor the last." But then, realising his gaffe, Charlie retracted, confessing: "Am I allowed to say that? Oh no, I shouldn't say that."

This follows an earlier incident this week where Naga experienced a wardrobe mishap. On Thursday (November 7), eagle-eyed viewers couldn't help but spot that her dress seemed to be slightly undone.

Talking to campaigner Angela Frazer Wicks on her painful adoption experience, Naga and Charlie turned to their right to speak their guest. However, Naga's navy buttoned dress which was previously fine for TV had an opening in the top half section.

Seeing the mishap on their screens, fans headed over to X to point it out, with one writing: "Naga, sort your wardrobe malfunction out. It's distracting."
