Alex Jones sets record straight on The One Show future after co-star's cryptic comment

The One Show's Alex Jones has set the record straight about her future on the BBC show, as she marks her 15th anniversary this week. Tonight, the 48-year-old presenter will be joined by her co-host Roman Kemp, and guests Richard Osman and Olly Murs for a special episode, which will include highlights of her most memorable interviews and other surprises.

While a guest on Scott Mill's BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show on Friday, the presenter was quizzed about her journey on the famous sofa so far. At the start of their conversation, Scott remarked: "Take me back to 2010 because you've got 15 years under your belt, what an innings."

Caught off guard by his comment, Alex quickly responded: "What an innings? I'm not leaving Scott."

Scott, sounding puzzled, asked: "Are you not?", leading Alex to firmly state: "No."

After clarifying that she had no plans to leave the show, she went on to reflect on how she landed the role all those years ago.

Alex said at the time of receiving the call from the show's editor, she was working as a commentator for extreme sport events.

Recalling an exchange with her and the boss over the phone, she recounted: "He said, 'Don't go home to Cardiff, come straight to London'. And that was it, we did photos and my world changed overnight".

Alex went on to say she feels "really lucky" to still have the job, and joked that bosses could get rid of her at "any point".

Praising her colleagues and the production team, the presenter described them as "wonderful", adding: "They've made the last 15 years the best 15 years of my life."

Sharing her thoughts ahead of tonight's surprise episode for her, she added: "But, I am nervous, because I get nervous about surprises and I don't know what's in store, which is odd.

"Because normally, I know what's going on on the show, but tonight, not a clue."

During her 15 years on screen, Alex's personal life has flourished with the arrival of three children.

The beloved presenter and her husband Charlie Thomson are parents to eight-year-old Teddy, six-year-old Kit, and daughter Annie, who celebrates her fourth birthday this month.

Alex has been candid about the difficulties of balancing motherhood with her career, particularly following the birth of her first born.

Remembering her quick return to work shortly after her birth, she shared with Prima Magazine: "I'd made unrealistic promises before I went off to have a baby.

"I'd never had a child before, I had no idea. And I had this fear it would interfere, that I'd have to compromise my work life. I now realise that was ridiculous because in fact I think I makes you better at work.
