An Ayushman Bharat beneficiary successfully underwent eye surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Thursday, following an immediate response to a complaint about a delay in approval.
The operation had been postponed the previous day due to a staff member's failure to upload necessary documents to the government portal. The patient's daughter, Sandhya Devi, had brought her mother to SGPGI's Ophthalmology Department for the surgery.
Despite all medical tests being completed, the Ayushman Bharat scheme formalities were not finalized, leading to the operation's postponement. The patient was left waiting without food or water for an entire day.
