Mumbai Shocker: Woman Pilot Molested In Cab by Three Men; Driver Arrested, Two Flee

Mumbai: In a shocking incident that has once again raised concerns about women’s safety in Mumbai, a woman pilot was allegedly molested by three men, including a private cab driver. The incident occurred on Thursday night while she was returning home to the eastern suburbs after meeting her husband in South Mumbai.

The Ghatkopar Police have arrested the cab driver, identified as Sajeed Gulhasan Shaikh (28), and produced him in court, which remanded him to police custody till June 23. Police are currently searching for the two other accused who fled the scene.

According to the complaint, the woman, who works with a private airline, had gone to meet her husband, a serving officer in the Indian Navy stationed in Colaba. After dinner at a hotel, she booked a private taxi to return to her residence.

However, shortly after the journey began, the cab driver stopped the vehicle and picked up two unknown men. One of them, seated at the back, allegedly began molesting the woman while the other tried to intimidate her. The terrified woman remained silent until the cab approached a police checkpoint, at which point the two men jumped out and fled. The cab driver later dropped her near her residence and also escaped.

Being new to the city, the woman initially hesitated but soon informed her husband, who accompanied her to the Ghatkopar Police Station the next morning to file a formal complaint. Based on CCTV footage and other evidence, the police tracked down and arrested the cab driver.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS, and further investigation is underway. Police have assured that the remaining two accused will be nabbed soon.
