Mumbai: An alert lifeguard at Juhu Beach rescued a 20-year-old man from drowning on Thursday evening. The youth, identified as Saheeb Singh, a resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, was in Mumbai with his family on a holiday and had visited the beach when the incident occurred.
According to local sources, the family was enjoying their time at the beach when Saheeb entered the water for a swim. He was quickly caught in a strong current, leading his family to panic and shout for help. Lifeguard Sachin Tandel, along with his colleagues, immediately sprang into action, dived into the sea, and safely brought the young man back to shore.
A civic official said, “Warning boards are already in place, and lifeguards constantly advise tourists to avoid entering the water, especially during high tide. Unfortunately, many ignore these instructions. With the increasing number of visitors, it becomes difficult to monitor every part of the beach at all times. Fortunately, we were able to save a life today.”
