Mumbai: A 45-year-old worker was killed in a hit-and-run in the Kajupada area of Ghatkopar West. The fatal mishap occurred on Sunday around 11.30 pm when Sanjay Mahamuni was struck by an unidentified vehicle while walking along the Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road near his residence.

According to the FIR, the accused fled the scene, leaving the victim severely injured. Upon receiving the information, Mahamuni's cousin, Kishore, who resides in a building near the accident spot. The latter rushed him to Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared dead. Sanjay's wife, Sanjeevani, and their two daughters live in Vangani, Badlapur, while he stayed alone in Ghatkopar West for work, said Kishore.
Based on his complaint, the Ghatkopar police have registered a case against the unidentified driver for negligent driving, failure to render aid, and fleeing the scene. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is currently being reviewed to help identify the suspect.
