Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers on Friday arrested a Kenyan national woman for allegedly smuggling liquid Cocaine worth Rs 15.71 crore from Addis Ababa.
According to DRI sources, examination of the baggage of the passenger resulted into the recovery of 1571 grams (gross weight) of viscous liquid substance in two moisturising lotion bottles. On testing with field test kit, the viscous substance tested positive for presence of “Cocaine”, a narcotic drug covered under the NDPS Act.
"The modus operandi involved concealing liquid cocaine in moisturizing lotion bottles, as the viscous appearance of the substance closely resembled that of actual lotion," said a DRI official.
The recovered 1571 grams of liquid cocaine valued at Rs 15.71 crore has been seized, and the passenger has been arrested, under the provisions of NDPS Act, officials said.
