MiC Okays Many Proposals Of Road Construction & Widening In Ujjain

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A meeting of the Mayor in Council (MiC) held in the presence of Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, MiC members and Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) commissioner Ashish Pathak on Tuesday gave approval to construction of many roads and in widening of prime roads in view of Simhastha Mahaparv-2028.

It, however, decided not to open confidential letter related to highly-controversial in-charge executive engineer Piyush Bhargava, who has been facing severe allegations of sexual harassment from a woman sub-engineer. The meet assumed significance in light of Simhastha preparations as about 44 proposals were to be taken up for discussion and most of them pertained to the Mahaparv itself.

Issue of Bhargava was quite burning as the UMC commissioner and Ujjain Police were hesitating taking due administrative and legal action against him despite registration of FIR against him some three month ago. An internal departmental enquiry was formed to submit a detailed report related to the allegations of woman sub-engineer.

The report was tabled during the meeting, but the MiC members desisted from opening the confidential report and instead sent it to the SP for action. It is learnt that the enquiry panel found that the complainant sub-engineer was subjected to mental tortures by Bhargava.

During the meeting, case regarding the construction of RCC four-lane from Nakshatra Hotel to Undasa via Pingaleshwar was confirmed. The case regarding the issuance of a building permit within a 500-meter radius of the Mahakal Temple was confirmed. The case related to the reconstruction work of the swimming pool, Dewas Road, was also approved.

Road widening work from Sandipani square to Udayn Marg and construction of central light divider, road widening work from Gail India Tiraha to Manchhaman Chowraha and Neelganga Tiraha, widening work from Hanuman Naka to Harifatak Bridge road, road widening work from Dhaanchha Bhawan to MR-5 SR-1 road, widening work of Rajeswa Colony main road and central lighting work, Nanakheda to Shanti Palace square MR-2 road widening work, Hamukhedi Bijasan Mata Temple to Dewas Road widening work, road widening work from Tagore square to Do Talab were discussed and approved.

Approval was given pertaining to road widening work from in front of Kothi Mahal Complex Bhawan to Dewas Road under the Scheme for Special Assessment to States for Capital Investment for 2023-24 Part-5 and Kothi Mahal to Vikram Nagar and Kothi Mal to Alkapuri Colony Link Road MR-10 construction work.
