Mumbai Indians batter Naman Dhir felt the pitch was on the slower side but gave credit to his team’s top order batters for their performance in the side’s win against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.
Dhir was talking to the media at the post-match press conference.
“Pitch was still on the slower side but the top order batted very well and gave us a very good start. Pitch was on the slower side,” he added.
The MI batter stated the team was riding on the momentum with five wins on a stretch now and had covered most bases.
“The last five games we are ticking the boxes and we are winning the moments that matter and that was leading us to win.”
When asked by one of the scribes about the experience of facing LSG’s express pacer Mayank Yadav, Dhir gave a candid reply.
“Nothing special and he is just another bowler to face for me. Yes I’ve watched his videos and another bowler who I can deal with.”
Dhir opined that the use of saliva was a huge factor as far as the bowlers were concerned.
“Definitely the saliva helps as it is heavier with the sweat. They used it quite well and our bowlers used it well too. It’s a day game so the weather is dry, pitch is dry. So it surely helps,” he added.
With regard to his preparation, Dhir stated he was tarining hard with all the shots that he showcased in the match and that simulation was helping him in match situations.
“I’ve been practising these shots in the nets and I’m very aware the ball will behave very differently in the nets and that’s what I can do and prepare.”
