How To Celebrate Rath Yatra At Home: Jagannath Rath Yatra is a very sacred and devotional festival, in which lakhs of devotees visit Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra and receive their blessings. The Rath Yatra of the year 2025 started on June 27 and during this time devotees get spiritual benefits by participating in the Rath Yatra with great devotion and faith. This event is not only religiously important but is also a festival and a symbol of social unity for the people.

However, some people are not able to go to Puri and participate in this grand Rath Yatra due to various reasons. But it is not that they should be deprived of it. They can get the blessings of Lord Jagannath and also earn the same virtue as Rath Yatra by doing some special puja and remedies at home. With these measures, devotees can be a part of the journey with their feelings from a distance and get spiritual satisfaction.
Worship Lord Jagannath at home in this way.
On the occasion of Rath Yatra, wake up every day in Brahma Muhurta, take a bath, and wear clean clothes. If possible, wear yellow clothes, as this color is considered dear to Lord Vishnu.
Clean the place of worship thoroughly and sprinkle Gangajal there so that the atmosphere becomes pure and auspicious.
Place a stool at the place of worship and spread a yellow or red colored cloth on it. If you have an idol or picture of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, then install them together, it is considered extremely auspicious.
Start the worship by blowing a conch and ringing a bell so that purity and spirituality spread in the atmosphere.
Bathe Lord Jagannath with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Gangajal). If there is no idol, then sprinkle Gangajal on the picture and feel like taking a bath. After bathing, dress him in clean clothes.
Offer new clothes, fresh flowers, Akshat (rice), sandalwood, and kumkum to the Lord. This offering is an important part of his worship.
Light a ghee lamp in front of the Lord, which is a symbol of light that dispels darkness.
Offer Khichdi to Lord Jagannath as it is his favorite food. Apart from this, jaggery, ghee, and fresh fruits can also be offered as bhog. Keep in mind that onion and garlic should not be used in the prasad.
Chant auspicious mantras like “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay Namah” during the puja so that the mind remains concentrated and spiritual energy is transmitted.
At the end of the puja, perform the aarti of Lord Jagannath and pray for the fulfillment of your wishes.
After offering the bhog, all the members of the house gather together and take the prasad, this maintains harmony and peace in the family.
Read or listen to mythological stories related to Lord Jagannath
Reading or listening to the life stories of Lord Jagannath during the Rath Yatra is considered very virtuous. Such as the story of his appearance, the importance of Rath Yatra, or the story related to King Indradyumna. Knowing these stories not only increases devotion but also one can understand the depth of the form of God and his Leelas.
Do charity and use Nirmalya
Donating food, clothes, or money on these holy days is considered extremely auspicious. If you have Nirmalya (sacred dry rice of Jagannath Temple) obtained from Puri, then keep it in your granary or use it in some auspicious work. It is believed that this never causes a shortage of food in the house.

Maintain a religious atmosphere at home.
It is necessary to keep the house clean and peaceful during the Rath Yatra. Light incense sticks and lamps daily, sing bhajans and kirtans, and spread positive energy in the environment. This not only gives mental peace, but also maintains happiness and prosperity in the house.
