Indian Railways launches special trains amid border tensions; here's the list

In the wake of escalated cross-border tensions , Indian Railways has taken swift steps to manage civilian mobility and ensure uninterrupted transport. In a bid to ease pressure on air and road networks, three special trains have been announced, reportedly, from the conflict zone to Delhi, ensuring continued connectivity and public safety amid the sensitive security environment.

Details of special train services

According to official announcements, Indian Railways has deployed three distinct services catering to a broad segment of passengers:

Train 04612This service is designed for immediate relief, especially for those stranded or unable to fly out of that zone. The train consists of 12 unreserved and 12 reserved coaches, offering flexibility to both general and ticketed passengers. It will depart from that location at 10:45 AM.

Vande Bharat Special A premium option has also been arranged in the form of a 20-coach Vande Bharat rake, which departs from the location at 12:45 PM. This high-speed service aims to reduce travel time and improve comfort while maintaining enhanced security.


LHB Special TrainA fully reserved 22-coach LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) train will depart from the location at 7:00 PM, ensuring additional capacity for long-distance travelers who require confirmed accommodation.

These services come at a time when civilian air traffic from these places are facing intermittent delays or rerouting due to the prevailing geopolitical situation. With high alert status in northern military zones, the railway’s move is a calibrated response to growing logistical challenges.

Safety measures intensifiedAlong with providing additional services, Indian Railways has tightened security measures at major stations, especially in the northern transit corridors and those vulnerable areas. GRP (Government Railway Police), Dog Squads, and local police have increased their joint inspections to combat any efforts at infiltration or sabotage. Similar exercises in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore Station were also recorded, indicating heightened awareness across the country.
