Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will soon be seen in ‘ Citadel: Honey Bunny’, one of the most anticipated spy TV series. In a promotional event for the series, Dhawan divulged that many had warned him against working with the ‘Yeh Maaya Chesave’ star and suggested he team up with a Bollywood actress. However, both the ‘Badlapur’ actor and the creators - Raj & DK were determined to work with Samantha.
The series, which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 7 November also marks Samantha’s first action-packed role. In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she sustained many injuries while working on the series.
Dhawan recently treated fans to some stunning behind-the-scenes photos of the series. Taking to Instagram, the ‘Main Tera Hero’ star posted a set of behind-the-scenes photos, seemingly captured during filming. The images highlight Varun in an intense look, with a surprise appearance by Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the final shot. He captioned the post with the words, "Freedom isn’t free."
The first image shows Varun in a commanding stance, holding a gun while wearing a black T-shirt and cargo pants, immediately grabbing attention. The next photo displays him in a more casual, stylish outfit, featuring a blue knit sweater, grey pants, and a brown bomber jacket. In the third shot, Varun is seen alongside his co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu, likely from an action scene, both aiming their guns at the camera.
On the professional front, Dhawan is currently one of the busiest actors, with several projects in the pipeline, including Baby John and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. In Baby John, he will be starring alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav. Directed by A Kaleeswaran, the film is set to release in theaters on December 25, 2024.

Helmed by veteran director-writer duo Raj & DK (best known for the horror-comedy ‘Stree’), ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ is the desi spinoff of the American spy action TV series named ‘Citadel’, which starred Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead.
The series narrates the story of a daredevil stuntman named Bunny who ropes in starlet Honey for a side gig. However, the two soon find themselves in a world where they must battle wits and fight with all they have to stay alive. The series eventually has a time leap and shows a now estranged Honey and Boney reunite o defend their young daughter, Nadia.
Nadia, a key character from the original series, appears in this spin-off as a younger version of herself, with the storyline set before the events of Citadel. This establishes a link between the spin-off and the broader Citadel Cinematic Universe.
Aside from Dhawan and Prabhu, the series also features veteran Bollywood actor Kay Kay Menon, Simran Bagga, Emma Canning, Sikander Kher, and Saqib Saleem among others.
