Ahead of crucial state elections, Ajit Pawar-led NCP released second list of candidates on Friday with Zeeshan Siddiqui getting Bandra East seat while Nawab Malik's daughter Sana bagging Anushakti Nagar.

The list was released after Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of former MLA and NCP leader Baba Siddique, joined the NCP on Friday in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He won the 2019 elections, defeating Shiv Sena's Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.

After joining the NCP, Zeeshan Siddiqui said, "This is an emotional day for me and my family. I am thankful to Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, and Sunil Tatkare for believing in me in these tough times. I have got the nomination from Vandre East; I am sure that with the love and support of all the people, I will definitely win Vandre East yet again."

Zeeshan was upset with the Congress after the party gave away his seat Bandra East to the UBT Sena as per the seat sharing formula of the Aghadi.

Sana Malik's ticket confirmed:

Thirty-six-year-old architect-turned-lawyer Sana Malik will be the Ajit Pawar-led NCP's nominee from the Anushakti Nagar assembly constituency.

"Sana's candidature has been confirmed; she will file her nomination papers on Oct 28," NCP said in a statement.

Sana is the daughter of Nawab Malik, who is also likely to contest from Shivaji Nagar-Mankhurd as an NCP nominee. Anushakti Nagar was represented by Nawab Malik from 2009; he lost in 2014 though, and was re-elected in 2019.

Meanwhile, BJP's Mumbai president Ashish Shelar reiterated on Tuesday that his party is against the candidature of NCP's Nawab Malik. Shelar told a news channel that his party will not accept giving a ticket to someone linked to the don Dawood Ibrahim.

Earlier, Nawab Malik was elected from Nehru Nagar for three consecutive terms from 1996. He then shifted to Anushakti Nagar when Nehru Nagar was reserved for an SC candidate.

Sana Malik came into the limelight following her work during the Covid-19 pandemic. Later, she looked after the constituency work when Nawab Malik was a cabinet member for skill development and welfare of minorities. When Nawab Malik was jailed in Feb 2022, Sana Malik stepped in again for developmental work in his constituency.

Nawab Malik was granted bail on medical grounds earlier this year in July.

Sana Malik has also taken up the cause of women in Nehru Nagar, Mankhurd, and Anushakti Nagar.
