The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on Friday appointed Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as first-ever Mental Health Ambassador.

The actress showed her deep honor in taking up this role and emphasized her commitment to supporting India’s ongoing efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ministry announced on Friday.

As a Mental Health Ambassador, Deepika Padukone aims to contribute to strengthening India's mental health framework, building on the significant strides the country has made in prioritizing mental well-being.

This partnership marks an important step towards raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting mental health across the country, MoHFW said in a statement.
