Another leap in mobile photography - Learn about Lumo by Oppo

Send Push
OPPO has introduced Lumo, a new image processing engine developed for the Find X8S and Find X8 Ultra. Built to enhance smartphone photography, Lumo integrates advanced software with upgraded hardware to improve image clarity, processing speed, and colour accuracy.

Designed to support a wide range of photography styles—from portraits and macros to landscapes and telephoto—Lumo adds improved performance and precision to OPPO’s latest flagship devices.

What’s up with Portraits?
Lumo is optimised for 15mm, 23mm, 70mm, and 135mm focal lengths, offering flexibility across a range of portrait styles. It delivers natural skin tones, detailed textures, and smooth background blur in both wide-angle and close-up shots. The system intelligently adjusts lighting and sharpness, streamlining the process of capturing high-quality images.

On the Find X8 Ultra, Lumo is paired with advanced camera hardware to improve image clarity, colour accuracy, and autofocus speed, helping produce consistently sharp and well-exposed photos in various shooting conditions.

Hardware
As part of its hardware advancements, Lumo technology incorporates Supercrystalline Blue Glass, which filters out 81% more infrared light to reduce glare and enhance colour accuracy. This helps achieve:

  • Clearer images in bright sunlight with reduced reflections
  • More natural-looking colours, especially in reds, blues, and greens
  • Sharper detail retention in high-contrast scenes such as cityscapes and sunsets

Improved Focusing

Blurry images from slow focusing are significantly reduced with the introduction of a two-group floating periscope lens, which improves autofocus speed by 30%. This setup also allows for a minimum focusing distance of just 10cm, making it suitable for:

  • Capturing detailed macro shots with visible textures and patterns
  • Close-ups of subjects like food, flowers, or jewellery with enhanced clarity
  • Telephoto images that retain fine details, even when zoomed in

More Vivid True To Life Colors

Unlike traditional smartphone cameras that apply uniform colour correction across the entire frame, the True Tone Danxia Lens uses a zonal colour temperature perception system to adjust colours dynamically in different parts of an image. This approach results in:

  • More natural and consistent skin tones in portraits
  • Richer, better-balanced colours in landscapes, preserving true-to-life skies, foliage, and water
  • Improved handling of shadows and highlights, reducing the risk of oversaturation or flat, muted areas

Realtime HDR Previews

Most HDR (High Dynamic Range) effects are applied after a photo is captured, which can make it hard to predict the final result. True Color ProXDR Live changes that by enabling real-time HDR previews, offering:

  • Better control over exposure before pressing the shutter
  • Enhanced detail in highlights and shadows, reducing reliance on post-processing
  • A more accurate, real-world preview that closely matches the final image
