Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 23 (ANI): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested two accused including a Junior Engineer (JE) employed on a contract and another official of the cantonment board of Ayodhya for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs10,000 from the complainant.
A case was registered by the CBI on Tuesday against the accused associated with the cantonment board, Ayodhya on allegations that he demanded a bribe worth Rs15,000 from the complainant for issuing allotment or permission letter for lifting wood held at the board's office. The wood was allotted to the complainant for Rs1,37,500 after the auction held by the Cantonment Board.
CBI laid the trap and caught the accused red handed while he was indulged in demanding and accepting the bribe worth Rs10,000 from the complainant. As this happened, a monitored call also revealed the complicity of the junior engineer who is an employee on contract with the cantonment board. After establishing his complicity in the offence, the CBI arrested the junior engineer. Both accused were arrested and will be produced in the competent Court on Wednesday.
The CBI has carried out searches at various locations and the investigation is ongoing.
Last week, the CBI registered a case against IPS officer Bhagyashree Navtake on alleged charges of forgery and criminal conspiracy. The IPS officer headed the investigation linked with a scam worth Rs1,200 crores, about Jalgaon-based Bhaichand Hirachand Raisoni Credit Society. (ANI)
