The 31-year-old singer, who passed away after falling from the third floor of of the Casa Sur Hotel in the trendy Palermo neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, had attended the concert with his girlfriend. A video from the event shows the couple singing and dancing to Niall's songs as they enjoy their evening at Movistar Arena.

The clip shows Liam waving his arm and singing along while kissing Kate, 25, on the head. The late "Teardrops" hitmaker had shared a series of videos and snaps on Snapchat, captioning one photo of himself with Niall: "Reunited."

Earlier this month, Liam told fans he was looking forward to seeing Niall at his concert in Argentina as they hadn't spoken for a while and needed to catch up. In one of the posts he shared after seeing his friend perform on stage in the South America country, Liam wrote: "So happy I got to see Niall in concert."

Liam tragically died in Buenos Aires on Wednesday after falling from the balcony of his hotel. His fall resulted in "extremely serious injuries" and medics confirmed his death on the spot, Buenos Aires police said in a statement.

City ambulance service provider spokesman Alberto Crescenti said he had fallen around 40 metres and suffered "severe injuries which were incompatible with life." He said: "The alarm was raised at 5.04pm local time saying a person was lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur.

"At 5.11pm an ambulance arrived and the man was certified dead. Afterwards we found out he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him."

After Liam's death, his where he sadly passed away. Young women filming with their cellphones expressed shock and heartbreak as a makeshift memorial with rows of candles and bouquets quickly grew outside the hotel. "I didn't think he was going to die so young," 21-year-old Isabella Milesi told The Associated Press.

"I've always loved since I was little," said 18-year-old Juana Relh, another fan outside Liam's hotel. "To see that he died and that there will never be another reunion of the boys is unbelievable, it kills me."

Liam's journey to stardom began when he was just 14 years old at his lesser-known first audition for The . The Wolverhampton teenager reached the judges' house stage and no further in 2008, but came back two years later as had asked.

At 16, Liam initially auditioned as a solo act but was given a second chance to come back as part of a group at Bootcamp, forming what would become one of the talent show's biggest success stories - One Direction. The band - comprising of Liam, , Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson - rose to international fame despite only placing third in the show.

They became one of the biggest pop groups in the with five albums, four world tours, one movie and a memorable music video for Red Nose Day in 2013 which featured then prime minister happening upon them dancing in front of Number 10 Downing Street. But six years after they were formed, with more than 20 million albums sold, the band were placed on indefinite hiatus with Malik having already left in 2015 to pursue a solo career.
