This Morning's Alison Hammond suffered an awkward incident when speaking to singing sensation Kylie Minogue on Friday's show.

In a pre-recorded clip, the star spoke to Kylie ahead of her next album release. During their chat, Alison revealed she had a special gift for the 56-year-old. She said: "I was up all night and I made you a poem, are you ready?"

Looking through her phone, Alison told the singer she had to find it, although it was clear something wasn't quite right. After a while, she revealed: "Oh, I've deleted it!"

Bursting out into laughter, Kylie was disheartened for Alison as she replied: "Stop it, you didn't?!" The host added: "I did, I want to cry. Should've been in my head really."

Not wanting her to feel bad, Kylie suggested they make one up together on the spot. Coming up with a short rap on the spot, they took it in turns to complete a new poem.

As the clip came to an end, viewers saw Dermot O'Leary applauding Alison for managing to turn around the awkward blunder. She replied: "You know what, I'd never been so nervous! Her throwing lines at me and me having to rhyme them."

Pointing out the mishap, Dermot confessed he could see the fear on her face when she realised the poem was missing from her phone. Alison added: "But then, the worst thing was the interview finished and I actually found the poem, she really got into it, have a look."

Cutting back to a clip of Kylie and Alison together, the This Morning host finally got to share her poem with the superstar. Reading from her phone, she said: "Sequin stilettos and beats that don't quit, Kylie walks in and the whole world's lit. She's spinning since the days of Locomotion, now she's causing another wild pop commotion.

"From disco to diva she's done it all. But, does Kylie ever age? No, she stands tall. With a wink and a shimmy, she conquers the stage making tension to sound like a new gold age."

Kylie was blown away by Alison's words, telling her she loved it and gave her a huge round of applause. Back in the studio, Alison told Dermot he should start calling her a songwriter as he asked how long it took to put together.

She confessed: "Quite a while actually! Took me all week. That's why I couldn't remember it, it was a nightmare."

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
